Curvy Design Market

The Curvy Design Market seeks to bring independent designer fashion together with a plus-size audience.

It is a boutique-style market, usually held in church or community halls in and around Melbourne, Victoria. Due to popular demand, we expanded into regional and interstate areas in 2019.

This highly enjoyable shopping experience is for women who wear size 14+, so gather some girlfriends and come and try some amazing fashion that actually fits. We only seek out and attract designers who we think are exciting, unique and above all, size-inclusive. For more info about our designers check out their page.

Isn’t it wonderful to learn more about the person behind one of your favourite local fashion labels?

#repost • @chasingspringtime Hi! I'm Belinda and I thought it was time to reintroduce myself and explain a little about why I approach fashion the way I do.

Fashion is my third career. Out of high school I studied and worked as an accountant. At 17 I was working in a bank and studying an accounting degree in the evenings.

I never found accounting that fulfilling. I wasn't as passionate about it as my colleagues, so I joined the HR team and started looking for further study options.

The word 'sustainability' was being discussed in some circles, but there was no media coverage of climate change 20 years ago when I decided to head back to uni and study environmental science.

I did a post grad and loved it so much I completed a masters as well. I had found my people! I worked in the sector for 15 years. I learned heaps, saw a huge change in the acceptance of the existence of climate change and made some awesome friends.

When I was offered a package to leave a few years ago I headed into my third career - fashion. I'd always been disappointed by plus size clothes and wanted to do it better. So I thought, 'if I don't do it now I never will'. And thus Chasing Springtime came about; solving all those issues so many of us have with plus size fashion.

Again, I've met wonderful people, particularly women who have indie labels in the plus size sector and it's been an amazing learning experience. I try to bring my sustainability background into everything I do here at Chasing Springtime and I'll be covering some of those in the weeks ahead.

If you have any questions please hit me up in the comments below or DM me.

And PLEASE, introduce yourself too. I love getting to know my customers better! Tell me about YOUR career history.

Isn't this print AMAZING?! It's our own exclusive print which means you won't find it anywhere else. I spent a LOT of time developing the print and the design because as you know, I'm extra.
